I found the metal parts are turning nasty shade of red. is there a fix for this? if anyone can offer a list of prevention... maintenance and solutions to help now.. and in the future. I guess... I missed the first one... after a wet game... clean... dry... and oil.just really glad i didn't take my ak out. FC

The rust is just a layer over the metal and it isn't a significant problem.
You just need to use a brush or a rough cloth (tissue works too) and just scrub away the red rust/dust.
Or
Spray WD40 onto a cloth and wipe at the exposed metal parts and the rust will come off easily too.

What you have to be careful of are screw threads and pins e.g on the EOTECH 552 screw.
Wiping it down with oiled cloth/tissue will clean it well ;D And keep it protected from further rusting.

You might want to protect the exposed metal with some paint or something after you've cleaned it to prevent rusting next time. Unless of course... internals.. then you oil them not paint them. lols.

"important screw" any ideas on removing a hex screw thats lost its hexs? and no, can't get pilers to it. only idea i have... is hit with chisel to make groove for screwdriver. FC

could drill it out but then you would need a thread tapping bit to re-thread the hole and a new screw.
