From Noa's 27/2/2011 post on "April 24th Kill House Competition"
Can anyone recommend a quality red-dot sight to get? Don't mind paying more if it is reliable. Also, a good acog / telescopic sight for outdoor use. There are so many listed on Redwolf / eHobby etc with a wide range of prices.
What do people think about the Tokyo Marui red dot and telescopic sight? Or the EA 4x32 ACOG Scope with Doctor Red Dot Sight? Or the Element Reflex Beta Version Red Dot Sight?

Well I just got the holographic sight from shooters gear, for like 200 something maybe I little more than that, and you can change the color of the red dot to green and it works really well indoors, outdoors I'm not to sure because I haven't tried it yet, but it uses two AA batteries, which therefore it's easy to get from any store and it's easy to change out. Also it's easy to understand it, and this maybe just me (probably is, because I'm a scatter brain gah O.o lol ) but the last time I used an acog red dot I always forgot to turn it off, and it always ran out of batteries and it used those watch batteries which was annoying -.-, again thats probably just me (scatter brain lol) . As for telescopic scopes I'm not too sure. I never used one and I don't really intend to use one, unless I get a sniper .

Tandem setups (red dot + zoom booster), by general rule of thumb, suck.
If you want a zoom on an assault weapon, china ACOG will do fine. New Tokyo Marui 1.5-4x mid size telescopic is also good, I use one on my AUG.
For shorter range use, the china made C-More types are pretty awesome. I use one on my gas M4; small, light (polymer), holds well and nice open aperture so minimum sight obstruction.
Your best bet, actually, is to come visit FC/Jin/Myself in Lai Chi Kok over lunch sometime in the week and we can show the nearby china stuff shop and you can hands-on check out some scopes. They offer quite a range and decent prices so its worth a look. Then of course you can follow up / preceed with a visit to eHobby to check out their scopes.
Scopes are really a taste thing, you really have to get hands on and take a good look close up. Different scopes suit different peoples wants and needs so its worth taking it slow and looking for one thats right for you.

I just got an Element version of the C-more yesterday, will bring it tomorrow to try it out. So far, however, it seems well made. Anyone know if they sell different light modules to change out for different dots/cross-hairs like the real ones?

I do quite like the Element and Big Dragon See-More/C-Mores. Clear with minimal mirror reflection (kinda) and excellent brightness adjustment. Unfortunately no info on changing reticules.

Thank you all for your feedback and offers of help. I ended up purchasing an Element Reflex Beta Version Red Dot Scope. It's not great in low light but in daytime it is clear and precise.
PS - I also have a Hurricane EOtech and far prefer the Element scope, mainly due to the smaller dot (vs large crosshair that obscures the target) and easier zeroing.
PPS - Was in an outdoor game with someone who routinely used a 1.5x scope with his AEG, even in mid range. Apparently it helped him pick out camouflaged opponents with ease...something to consider...

What Noa was saying was for the clone Eotech's
I use an EOTech EOtech. I also use an AIMPOINT Aimpoint Micro T1
they both be good, the diff is the EOTech has a much larger sight picture, and can be used to effectively shoot at close to ranged targets. The Reticle is used to approximate distances to the target and depending on the zone of the reticule you aim at, representing diff distances, you WILL hit your target!
