I propose an idea to get together and use BF2 as a format to play out little 2-4 min comedic epsiodes.
Not random skits, but a collection of events with consistant charcters which tell a story.
"Red vs Blue-esque"
Obviously we need to find someone who avtualy knows how to do that...
ANYWAY, I think it might be cool to try it out, upload episodes onto youtube or whatever; at the very least it could be fun. ;D

Me and Ferox are already doing something like that for NWN1.
We want to continue with NWN2, but the toolset which we would use for creating scenarios/ scenary is a fricken nightmare to use.
I imagine BF2 would be more difficult, and it'd definitely need alot more people, as you'd need a player for each character.
You'd need fraps, some audio recording software, and some audio editing software in order to improve the voice quality / get rid of background noise.

I agree with Magiaz on all except difficult, it should be exceptionally easy in terms of creating content. The only issue is lack of body movement. BF2 comes with an internal video recording system, so we can basically record a session and then move around at will afterwards and take what we want with fraps. I have excellent free sound editing and recording software, so we can remove any gain and background noise we don't want, but yes, the only real issue I can see here is getting people together. We'd basically have to create a lan party of about 4-6 people minimum to make something decent, in a 'sound sterile' environment if we want voice recording, which kind of puts S7 out of the question. We could do it over the internet, but then we get lag issues and communication and coordination can get tricky for difficult scenes, but I think it's do-able. You can have a look at this guy www.youtube.com/profile?user=LTvictim for some cool BF2 videos, including Blue October - Into the Ocean and UAV hack to see the BF2 recorder's power.

Any chance you can record the voices while doing the video at the same time, but seperatey?
I mean so we can do it in one sitting, but then go back and re-record the vocals in a "sound sterile" environent, as simple as meeting at someones place and doing it direct to one laptop, we can control consistancy and qualiity better then.
(BTW, I know you guys are working on other formats, I just think BF2 is the big one considering how globaly popular it is, that's all; the massess wil relate easier to the setting.)

It'll be better to make the voice recording seperately, trust me, the best method is to write a script before hand, and then base the actions and videos we record off that script, making sure there is enough time to get the text in. Once that's done, we add the voices later, not only in a sound sterile environment, but also where we aren't pressed for time, so we can get it right, it takes alot of effort to voice record. I had an inspiration today, I'd like to replicate this video in BF2, just copy the scenes with various vehicles, replace the dogs and sheep with people and shock paddlers respectively, and at the end, replace the balloon with an apache. I think it'll be fun and it won't require any voice, giving us a chance to practice using the new format. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiBX8MkFkd4

Oh of course, I think we should do two or three test vids to get it right first; that way by the time we post our first actual episode, we got the technique down properly, so we can just concentrate on the script. OH with the apache, replace with a transport, more slow and sluggish, and we have to put a few tanks at the bottom jsut to generate a smoke plume. BTW, I'm gonna start putting together a skeletal idea for the script, we can talk more when we're in person. For now, I say we focus on two things, characters and setting. For one, we start by getting all the voices we can and assign one character per each, we can add more chars later if we need them. I think it makes sence to assign the appropiate class to each one of us as we each know first hand the kind of target points to make fun of as we go along. i.e. Ben is the crazy bomber spec ops, I'm the head-first medic, Jer is the lame ass sniper, etc. Then the setting, I suggest we need to come up with a fictional one; what I mean is that we can use any and all standard maps in the game but in-story it's all different locals in the same region which we're fighting in, or whatever. ANYWAY, yes, anyone who wishes to join the project with a voice, sign up here and supply a list of a first and second choice for a character type (type = class + personality archetype) so I can run off and begin to form up some ideas. As I say, we can talk more when we meet to do the actual BF2 stuff (I suggest S7 obviously); my plans will just be prelim ideas for now, formating and refining comes later. FYI, your personality behaviours in vehicals will differ slightly as well, but that's secondary; we'll work out primary factors first yeah?
Also, doubling up on classes is fine, a spread is prfered, but doubling alows us to use more archetypes per class (i.e. a sharp-shooter spec ops as well as the bomber type). So anyway, the list so far: Matt: " Arclight" ~ Reckless wiseass - Medic <OR> Sharpshooting wiseass - Spec Ops Jeremy: " Malavern" ~ <OR> Ben: " Ferox" ~ Colonel Sanders (suicidal idiot) - Assault <OR> Ralph: " Magiaz" ~ Captain Tactics (useless pro wannabe) - AT <OR> Spec Ops

Ralph: "Magiaz" ~ "Captain Tactics" type ~ Anti-Tank (or spec ops, since they get the cool hat)
So yeah, i try to do everything as seriously and professionally as possible, making ultra detailed plan etc. but end up failing at everything i do. i.e. I spend 10 seconds trying to sneak up on a tank, jumping across buildings and doing all this cool stuff to action music, and just as i'm about to put the C4 on i get crushed by a supply crate or something. Or the tank reverses an inch and kills me.
I'm expecting to get bombed/crushed/pushed off buildings constantly, yet somehow just managed to survive. Also gives me an excuse to be awol so you guys can do whatever if its too inconvient to use me.
Though this might be a moot-point regardless, if everything occurs when i'm outside of HK.

Ben: "Ferox" ~ "Colonel Sanders" type ~ Assault
I am the leader of the group, but no one listens to me, mainly because of my simplistic suicide charge tactics, while I stand at the back, hiding behind a rock, hence the name relating to chickens. I try act all tough and bossy but I know jack. However, I at least back up my authority with grenades to the disobedient's face.

OH, and thats a point, don't forget that we'll have to split/double things up to fill in teams on both sides.
Those who can do sufficiantly seperate distinct voices can double up, those who aren't so clearly defined should probably just stick to one side for now.
We'll work out who can do what when we make our first meet.

Jimbo: "Bukakke" ~ "Captain" type ~ Assault(verbal)
I am the Cunt of the group, and everyone listens to me, mainly because of my cunt-like tactics in observation of everyday situations, while I stand at the back, hiding behind a rock, hence the name relating to gang facial ejaculations. I try act all tough and bossy but I know jack. However, I at least back up my cuntery with cunty remarks to the disobedient's cunt.

I've decided to switch to Sniper, although I might try to pull off two characters (one medic, one sniper).
