Just wondering if anybody still plays BF 1942? If you do, dose anybody wanna get a online gaming going on? BF2 is great and all but frickin lags so much for me that it has become un-enjoyable gaming experience. So I recently install BF 1942, updated to the latest version. So if you still play tell me alright? look for the name Xurbit. Xt

Anyone know how to get Hamachi working properly? Xurbit and I have been trying, no luck in setting up or creating LAN games, which would eliminate the need for cdkeys. Any thoughts?

1.6gb is more than enough for 1942, considering it doesnt even use half as much graphics and processing power as bf2...
and DC is still very healthy

my 2.4ghz desktop with 512 RAM and nvidia 6600GT is laggy on DCF.. then i upgraded to 1GB RAM and its not that laggy anymore, but still a bit at the start of the game, then gets better after a few mins. my laptop with dual core 1.83ghz and 2gb RAM w/ ATI X1400 is no lag at all

its not the processor speed that really does it in for these games, its more of RAM then anything else..

I just had a thought...
While I'm at the office, I will try set up my self to be dedicated at home. I'll just leave a server up and running for you guys...
The trouble is getting people up onto the server with no cdkey.
Hamachi is the only solution! Will investigate tonight.

Ok, got it, installing it now. Battlefield 1942: WWII Anthology (1942 + Road to Roam + Secret Weapons) It's a full bundle so might as well install the lot (even if I never use SW ).

Hey guys, just to let you know I'll be busy all day tomorrow, so I'll be running a server over hamachi from 9am till 9pm. I'll leave it running, feel free to join and organise something. You NEED hamachi which you can get online. secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=enTo join my hamachi network, the name is benBf42, the password is Oclan. You can then see my game in the LAN room if everything works out. Because it's LAN you don't need a valid cdkey so feel free to get yourself...lol...sorted out, and then join... If not, you're network is screwy and you need to direct connect to me through your shortcut. Contact Xurbit for more details!

Technically, BF Vietnam was an expansion but because it was ridiculously poorly made, it failed miserable with thousands of burning kittens on fire. Don't contact me, as much as I want to get the credit for the solution, contact Pest, hes the one who help me with it, so if you have a similar problem like I did, CONTACT PEST NOT ME. And a big thanks for Ferox for hosting the server, but Ferox can you make the rounds next time more then just one? it kind of sucks when I join half way in a game (due to long time loading, me thinks its my pc just really messed) and then suddenly chaining map. two-four rounds each will be great. Tickets ratio should be great if its 2000 per side. ;D AI Bots level is fine is just a really annoying when they get arty, almost anywhere in range they can strike, even if your hiding behind a building lol so maybe turn the AI level for the bots down a bit? Please? Xt

I'll do what I can, but I don't know what effect turning down the AI will have except making it way to easy, as the AI will effect all bots, and you'll have a damn easy time, making it boring. My recommendation is to get a plane and blow them up! ;D I'll experiment and turn down Ai to 80% Also I thought I made it so that each round repeated twice...I guess your computer is SO slow you completely miss the first round. Put the solution Pest made on here for future reference, copy it form your shortcut please.

Vietnam was first released as a downloadable mod for 1942, and due to its first successes, EA purchased the rights to Vietnam, and developed it further into an expansion.
Later due to complaints from various gamers stating that it lagged their computers to no end and is a waste of space whe ninstalled as an expansion, EA, finally turned it into a whole seperate game.
Dont argue with me on this, i was on the development team.

it will be easier to kill the bots if there AI level is down, but thats why you increase the mass lol Well I don't know if that was the ase but I take your word on it since you worked for EA. Besides, it was just really poor game that came out to quickly for profit. How the hell can an anti-tank have a m60 + a rocket lancher thats like massive pwnage. The helicopters didnt do jack. the planes were useless. terriable game. Never the less some BF mod's are impressive take DC for example Xt

on the contraire, i thought it was a great game.
today too many ppl complain about realism i just laughed my head off at grabbing the enemy's tank from their base with a chinook
the music player was such a gem i wish they had kept it for bf2 and 2142
the vast number of things you could do and hilarity of online abuse is what makes a game sometimes

The helos were mainly used to transport troops, and supplies using the winch... (which reminds me of the much fun, hammer throw with a Fully loaded PT Boat... eheh)
Some of the planes have Napalm bombs, and most of the time, if you know how to use them properly, do more damage then you can in bf42, and bf2.
The Rocket Launcher has little to no splash, so it cant kill infantry well, instead its used for armored vehicles/helis. And since you only get, if i remember correctly, 2 tubes of LAWs, the M60 is just about right. In any case the M60/LAW combo is historically accurate. The M60 also does virtually NO damage to armored vehicles, the only thing it is good for is laying down suppresive fire, since its so damned inaccurate, and if you're very lucky kill a gunner on a helo as it hovers nearby!
I agree with you totally, much fun was had with the hammer throw technique, especially when the vehicle you are towing along is fully loaded with units!! lol

Hey all, despite my crappy PC, are we gonna play any more BF 1942 online? Ferox stoped hosting the server and its coming to the point where its pretty much boring/dead right now. If that is the case I'm gonna uninstall it and install Assassins Creed instead. Let me know if you guys are still playing or not.
