Ok, so I'm seriously considering taking my M4 down the designated marksman route, so besides my own ideas, I'd like to here some from you. SO, ok, the idea is that I will upgrade the internals of my M4 up to 1.8/1.9 and upgrade to a long tightbore, hiding the legnth with a silencer. With silencer attached, I have about 520-540mm clearance, which is actauly longer then an M16 barrel but not long enough for some others (i.e. M14 is too long to fit, the AUG is only just too long, but I suppose I'd have to check to be sure). SO, does anyone know whats the longest I can get an inner barrel that would fit my 540mm upper limit? The best I know is the SIG550 barrel at 534. I'll also upgrade the other internals for accuracy and range as well, but I'm checking with Kai to remind me what exactly is already in my gun before I work out what I need to change.

lol, not quite; Kai would build a high ROF 1.9 for CQB. At least I'm building a sniperish weapon. ;D

lets just say that it sounds like a real gun now, all thats lacking is he sound of the shell ejections!!
Arclight, shove some foam in the gear box area!

Actualy it doesn't need foam, the gearbox isn't that loud, is the report of the shot itself from the muzzle; so really all I have to do is attach a silencer... ...which is exacly why I have decided not to extend the length of the barrel and instead just use the silencer as a silencer, because this gun actualy needs it.

Nope, just Tony's magic fingers. WAIT that sounded wrong.... Anyway, yeah, yeah the gearbox makes noise, of course it does, just not a whole lot. Yes, maybe I will consider foaming up the internals sometime but I want a chance to try it out as is first.

if there is a big enough gap between the gearbox and the body, you could insert thin rubber pads cut to shape like I did with my AUG.

Tis ok, tis ok; I will investigate these things eventualy, for now my thoughts and efforts (and cash) are in other things. But to be sure, if and when I get around to this (some time next year I imagine) I'll let you guys know.

With a longer barrel like that you'll need to get a type 0 cylinder, btw.
