my sig552 had had a few operations over the last few months... mid game it would go grrr grrr... so with the help of others... I've replaced gears and piston thinking that was the problem... although each time the gear box was open spring guide was in 2 pieces basiclly... it had a faulty spring guide and i just kept reconnecting it till i finally got a replacement and awaited for it to crap out again. now... after a 4 hour operation (me putting in new spring guide all by myself =P) it seemed to turning over ok... although... symptoms extra sound of winding after firing. first shot fires 3 bb's at once... also selector doesn't click in right... not firring on single sometimes... and loses full auto also. possible diagnostics i think the winding and 3 bb's is a timing problem... and the trigger and fire selector must also be faulty. but not wanting to open it again... till i know 100% what I'm looking to fix. Do you Concur ?? FC

you check the wires connections? they might go faulty, so use a probe and give it a check

After you put together the gear box, is the gearbox firing fine on all modes?
- The nozzle must be shown to be going back and forth every shot.
- Your gears are not timed so you have the extra winding sound. See that your gear timings and anti-reversal latch is in place properly.
- That additionally means that your piston is not at full rest/extension inside the gearbox :S
- For the faulty fire mode, it means that either your gun isn't getting enough power from the battery or like my MP5SD3, your circuit needs to be replaced as it is heating up like mad due to impurities (oxidised).
- but it may be because your external fire select gears (the ones outside of the gun) are not timed as well, which is also why your selector doesn't click in right.
Good luck!

mmm... anti-reversal latch... might be it... as i thought i did the timing right. little keener to crack it open when i have time. maybe if someones looking over my shoulder... just in case. thank you. FC

ok... finaly cracked it open... reversal lever spring was fooked.... so replaced. timing was off.... corrected. something was wrong with the trigger... not sure what... but chris poke at it with a screwdriver... and is now fixed. the O ring in the piston head was not.... moving... creating 0% preasure... due to age... over-greasing... and probally just not beening used for 3 months... replaced. added a few more shims to minimize gear sideways movement... and a new slapping of grease. gearbox is running very smoothly now... removing the plastic battery holding thingy in the handgard... and i can just... just fit my new battery. so Nylon big battery strap-on bag 4 sale now. $15 although on re-asslembling it i beleive i got a wire laying the wrong way somewhere as i have a 2mm gap in the receivers... =/ and also... my placement of the fire selector gearing isn't quite right... as it wont fire if full auto is selected... but if you selector 5mm off fullauto... it will fire.. lol. Easy fix... just need to make time oh... did have 1 small problem at the last game. well testing the spring power... with a 11v battery... it failed (holed bottom of can) Replaced battery with 8v battery... it passed... lol. ?? ?? and as chris said... "Impossible"... lol anyways... was great to play with my 552 again... and i really noticed the weight differance... not having to use the big battery anymore.... even after not using it for 3 months. oh... Added some new artwork. ;D i'll have to get pictures of the new family... asap! FC

failing on 11v could be due to high rof, the piston goes forwards, but was caught by the sector gear spinning round again before it went completely forwards, so less air was pushed out, therefore lowering the power. wouldnt happen on 8.4v because ROF is slower

well that makes sence.... but... 11v was higher Joules power.... ? FC

11v more power? bad english you said 11v failed and 8.4v passed, so I thought the 11v failed to put a hole through bottom of can while 8.4v did

no... sorry... failed.... "the test" to be uses in the days play. 2 sides being ok.... bottem of the can was a nono. was little embassing... i was the only one over the power limit... but then went and swaped battery... to the 8v... tested.. and passed the test (no holeling bottom of can)... then went back and swaped back to 11v battery ;D I'll crono it later... see how much differance there realy is.
