I dug this up recently, having put it in my archives loooong ago. Once upon a time I used it (infact I still do) in a piece of fiction, cyberpunk style thing. This was a compact long-coat-concealable large caliber semi-auto weapon used for pwning armour plated cyborgs. Anyway, point is, I thought that this would make for a wicked M14 mod. The image includes the original carbine as well as a longer variant (which I literaly just did a fewe momments ago, a longer alternative incase we wanted to develop one). The idea would be that this short carbine reduces the M14 down to a size more commonly preffered in HK (we like our CQB). Also, to bulk up the size to make it more robust looking then the M14 but also switch to lighter materials in the hope to make this weapon overall more managable in terms of balance as well as overall weight ( note the enoromous buttstock, excellent for custom batteries). Also, you'll notice it's inhereant bulk means this could be a platform from which many weapons can be fit into, like M4s, G36s and G3s (possibley even gas semi-auto 8mm rifle systems, which would be AWESOME). I, for one, love the visual design of this weapon and would love to see built in the real world. So Yonathan, get your ass over here.

Nice. And no, I didn't draw it myself, I nabbed it from some obscure corner of the web many years ago and stored it in my "cool shit" folder; I'm glad I did. And i know yonathons up for more gun mods, but we'll have to explore the idea theoreticaly to see if we can formulate a practical way to go about this that is sufficiantly feesable to pull off with the reasources we have available.

dosent look that bad acutally but a sugesstion: for the longer version why not put extended barrel and side rails, with the shorter version maybe side rails and a shorter stock. Anyhow there are just sugesstions you dont have to do them but if I have m14 I would do it. Never the less the designs are very nicely done. Xt

Hate to be a downer, but it'll not work.
Look at the Version 7 GB, and then look at the trigger position on that gun.
If you move the trigger about an inch and a half foward, then maybe, but otherwise no.

Hmm... it would appear that once again you are correct... hey slight adjustments wont make that much of a difference anyways, and it'll still weigh much less than my current M14, and would prob still look much better, atleast the weight balance would be better...

True.
Still, point is this is a cool mod; exactly which gearbox we put inside is debatable.
We could use a trigger extension inside, or just use a different gearbody; in any case, it's a funky gat aiiiiight.
