Hey all,
I'm plannign to purchase the MP7 to replace my glock as my new sidearm, and i was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it. i.e. Technical details, Performance, Modifiability, is it worth it? What brand should i purchase? How should i upgrade it? and stuff like that.
Feedback of any helpfulness would be much appreciated!!

(Bare in mind that this is based on the Marui version, I have no idea how other cheaper versions compare.)
The main critique of the MP7 is that the inherant properties of this new technology make it a very weak weapon, your lucky to get out 0.5j (although maybe more with the chinese version, I dunno).
There are far better snap-shot pistols out there, the ONLY things that the MP7 have going for it are it's stable full auto (as auto gas pistols are never a good idea) and it's relativley large clip (compared to your usual pistol mags anyway, well, at least the long-clip is).
This weapon costs a pretty penny for what it is so I'd really only recomend it for two cases:
- Back-up for a larger, heavier, slow-firing weapon (maybe you could use that excuse for your M14, but really I'm talking bolt-action types here). In that scenario, you really need that full-auto capability when you get caught at short range so you can afford to sacrifice power.
- DGW as a primary weapon; we play there often-ish, hopefuly more in the future (especialy cosnidering the imminent crazy HK summer weather). The MP7's weak power is a good thing for such ubershort ranges, safer for indoors.
Then, the compact and ultra-lightweight MP7 really comes into it's own; short and large clips, full-auto, accesory rails for scopes, lasers, etc. In theory, probably an excellent weapon for DGW (pending practical trials of course).
So all that in mind, personaly, I'm considering eventualy getting one as well, both as a primary for ubershort range areas as well a lightweight backup for my 249 (which can be too heavy and cumbersome for snapping around in tight spaces, the MP7 is small and light enough to allow for dual-carrying with little additional weight peanalty).
Anyway, thats my two cents......NEXT....

I'd stay clear, tbh.
It's $1K up for the TM, and the clone is still a bit funky.
It's not terribly upgradable, is underpowered, weedy and has a pretty slow RoF.
As has been said, the ONLY good things are:
1) It's an MP7. Sechs. 2) Reliable Full auto in a small package, but still low RoF (about 11-12rps) 3) Comparitively large ammo capacity.
But think about it. It's small, yes. But still larger than ANY pistol bar the GIGANT. It's got reliable Full-auto. But so does the MP5k - and that's the same size, and more RoF and power, and most importantly a QUARTER OF THE PRICE.
So would I get a MP7? No. It's too much and too crappy.
I'd get a MP5k instead. It's got better RoF, better upgradability, more power, more accessories (for cheaper too) and generally more potential.
It's also cheaper, especially with the clone, which is 1.1J as stock, has a tightbore as stock, metal bushings as stock, a folding stock that can be removed, more battery space, more upgrade paths, more accessories, cheaper mags, bigger mags, metal bodies available etc.
Also, the MP7 has one of the highest Lemon rates of any TM product - I've heard of many cases of misfeeding, terrible power and airseal etc.
Get a GALAXY MP5k. It's the same size, much better and much cheaper.
If you are REALLY set on an MP7, at least get the clone. The TM is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR too overpriced for what it is.
If you need more help or convincing, speak with me on MSN and I'll help you out.

Yeah, a complex, tiny SMG that ejects brass off two planes, great. I'm just waiting for someone to use one and stovepipe it.

Come on guys, as much as i agree with you bout the G36 being nice, I'm talking about soemthing small enough for a replacement for my glock here, something that i can preferably stick into a thigh holster or back holster.
I've had several MP5Ks way back then, and have lost confidence in those puny little things. I've also been through the Glock18C (gas), Mac10 (gas), Mac11(gas), TMP(gas), TMP SPP(gas).
So now i'm looking into AEPs... and MP7 looks tasty...
ANy other helpful suggestions?!

goliath, i'm looking for a pistol, not a standard performance smg. I'd probably only use s/a, and will need to holster it as i prob wont use it most of the time...
if i get the MP5k, all i could do is use a Mac10 holster, which barely holds it in place with a strap and a clip... where most of the time it'll be dangling around obstructing my movements.
Where the MP7 has 3 types of holsters for me to choose from... the Mac10 styled sling/holster, Thigh holster, Plate holster.

Yet it's still crap - I'm just pointing that out.
Expensive crap too.
Plus, if you want sommat smaller, get the Vz61 - that's much smaller, apparently better internally than the MP7, and TM are making a 300-400 round drum mag for it.

AESMG - the same series as the MP7, but apparently better internals.

That sounds awesome, but ya still can't holster it, one of Mal's main requirements.
