Ok, I'm working up a plan to get a JG L96 again (having sold my last one for varying reasons).
I wanna here some opinions on what kinds of mods I could invest in it to help mark up performance all I can.
Starting with a JG L96 (ignore bipods and scopes for now), what kinds of things do you think I should do. Bare in mind that I'm only looking for actualy performance improving mods and to a budget (essentials and good investments, no fancy parts that aren't really worth the money please).
SO what do you think?
(And be specific if you can; if you think I should install certain parts (i.e. new piston, etc.) then please suggest a specific brand or model)

I'd look into upgrading the: 1) Hopup system. That's the most important part of a sniper rifle for me. Consistant hop = consistant shots! 2) Piston/Cylinder set. The sniper rifle has gotta be 2J It wouldn't make sense for me if it was any less. That means you'd want a reliable, long lasting and efficient piston/cylinder set, IF the original isn't good enough. Top two for me. Anything else I'd leave it. Not too picky with just upgrading the hopup only too.

Sounds good to me; have any ideas on which products/brands in particular to aim for, in terms of piston/cylinder sets and hop-ups? I'm not so knowledgable when it comes to springers, so I need all the help I can get.

As far as I know it's the: PSS (Japanese) King Arms There is a limited choice anyways so if you see it's a japanese brand, that's the one to go for

Oh, I've also been looking at the option of getting the APS2 gas bolt instalation for it; is it worth it?

i wont use gas for sniping unless you're purely after the light bolt pull and silence option where everything else dont matter.
reasons being the power output is inconsistant. and as soon as your fps changes, you need to have the hop adjusted for your accuracy too. since every shot will differ in power and the fact that you cant bend gas laws to obey your needs to have consistant fps. i wouldnt bother... because like... how do you make sure the nozzle, ambient temperature, cylinder temperature will remain constant so that the same amount of gas will come out every time, expanding exactly the same every shot?
not worth the money... if you're after consistancy.
but like i've said above... if you want something in a sniper rifle that is extremely quiet as well as a light bolt pull. that's what you want.

wt jimmy said- and even after you taken one shot - if you want a folllow up shot - the mag would hav cooled and stuff - and even if you zeroed the scope for the previous shot - the trajectory will have changed. = gay
As much as gas rifles are cool - just not tht good for a sniper rifle.
and u quoted u'rself - (essentials and good investments, no fancy parts that aren't really worth the money please) - well gas bolt - if u wanted a gas rifle get a KJ m700. theres u'r answer

I can mod the hop-up to be much more effective, no extra parts required.
Special, in-house mod.

Yeh, I'm gonna stick to spring; I used to have one before so I already know it's quiet enough for my liking and I do prefer the rugged reliability of a springer. Goliath: I'll proabbly take you up on that, might get you to install anyother mods I'll get while your at it.

K.
What you need:
1) PDI/KingArms Zero Trigger set <More or less required, as the stock trigger set will die. Always.
2) Decent barrel spacers < really does make a difference.
3) A tightbore < Again, lots of difference.
4) Various hop-up and cylinder tweaks.
5) A nice OD Paintjob.

Ok; well let just worry about the rifle first, paintjob is secondary. And btw, theres no rush, it'll be a few more weeks yet before I have the time to do this anyway.

Also, you might want to consider changing the piston, spring and spring guide, as with the other upgrades she might end up being too powerful.
