Righto... I think it kind of belongs in this section. I offered to help (at least find out about) Matt with his radio because my father and co. are all licensed amateur radio people. I basically wanted to see if we can get matt's radio sorted so we can all use it for our games Matt's radio is one that does not have a LCD. Radios of this type are usually seen on professional/service workers like security guardsmen, police, emergency services or construction supervisors. And amateur radio enthusiasts tracing matt's radio with dad's freq' counter The channels are all preset beforehand, so you only need to turn the knob to switch to one of Motorola's 16 channels. They require the radio-PC connectors and supporting software to reprogramme the channel frequencies, etc. Trace results: ( red denotes frequencies that interfere or cross-over onto civil/transportation services channels. You are likely to get traced - there's been past incidents where abusers have had their locations triangulated, address figured out and taken to court for just "messing about with his PTT" on certain frequencies. 1. 462.5634 2. 458.62613. 461.1262 4. 468.5009 5. 462.8762 6. 457.62607. 465.0764 8. 459.02629. 466.3139 10.455.076311.460.063712.457.826213.462.2513 14.456.751115.467.0136 16.469.8264 Turns out that the presets were very much random. It doesn't even match up with the first 16 channels of the United States GMRS+FRS chart. www.409shop.com/shop_displaynews.php?id=154&locate=3So I'll now consider all available options... first will have to speak with dad to see what he thinks. (and hope he doesn't pickle my brains with his radio jargon) For now, we could have all other radio users to tune to his freq' at channel 1. (it's difficult for me to translate dad's canto techy talk into layman's english... so I'm taking a break here. brb)

Okay, well I can make note of the channels I can use and their respective frequencies for game days, otherwise, will have to look into getting it re-programmed. I'm sure there is a way to tweak frequencies, so lemme know yeah? I don't plan to play again till the noob game on the 19th, during which the radio is more important as I'm marshaling mostly. I probably will do the CQB game on the 10th, but the radio isn't vital then. So, we got 2/3 weeks to see what you guys can do with tweaking so just lemme know what your up to. Go ahead and reprogram if you can, match to the team radio frequency lisiting as best you can.

Well, your radio works really nicely, and rather powerful too. Nice transmission clarity and stuff... but from now on you'll need to buy moto gear... which means more and more moneys :S You may as well buy the interface cable and programme instead of paying for it to be reprogrammed everytime. Moto = gucci. ----- I need your charger now or you can have your radio back? Cus there's not much left for me to do here. --------- Note for all concerned: Let me know BEFORE you buy any more radio gear... I can ask for the best place to get them... and some guys I know have been buying radio stuff for years, so they can get decent prices. Some venture into the mainlands for cheaper things regularly, so if you wandered... we can at least find out more before more splashing out.

Well when Arclight brings his radio - I have my radios with his channels memorized - so he can use it.
But he will need to program some motorola talk-about (freq: 409.XXX) channels so we can be compatible with all other UHF radios.

Problem :S Quansheng and other LED display radios only got frequency steps at round numbers and .5's
So all the frequencies that does not end with 5 or 0 cannot be tuned into :S
It's gotta be all reprogrammed into using frequencies that we know.

I think FC was shown how to deactivate that 5-step function, some kind of setting to make frequency shifting faster, so it can be turned off I think. Ask FC.

Woops - frequency problem fixed.
As long as we're in similar band the last digit doesn't matter.
It's just the CTCSS now for Arclight.

Not sure what you mean by that question...
Need to know what radio you got and it would be much easier if we met face to face and I'll just tell you about things.
you can add me on msn if you want.

I dont really need a fancy headset. I just need to hear what your saying and stuff. Only reason i dont want to speak is because i dont know what to say. I know it sounds funny, but yeah. Oh, I dont care if its 2nd hand. As long as its durable and functionable.
