Cut and pasted from a the kiwi forum...and from a regional club perceptive.
we can easy do similar... and basicly... repeat offenders... just don't get invited.
Cheating will always be an issue in the sport of airsoft no matter which club you belong to or where in the world you are playing (check out others forums it’s a common complaint). It’s the nature of our sport it relies solely on the honesty of the players to call hit when they are hit, for any game/club to succeed.
So when you strip it down it’s an individuals mind set that will dictate whether they will cheat or not. As for their reasons their could be many, but why discuss them, none can justify their actions
So the only option you have is how to change their mind set!
Now at this point I had better clarify a “cheat” as I see them
A cheat is your continue repeat offender that guy that’s been spoken to on a number of occasions yet continues to view his behavior as expectable and is most likely is never prepared to see fault in themselves or in their actions during and after a “cheating” occurrence.
So...
Step one:
You or your club leadership/Senior players address the individual after collecting a catalog of offences against the individual (keep a record of dates, times and witnesses)
Now if you’re dealing with a non hardcore cheater this action will stop the cheating straight away and this action can be kept it on the down low so as not to have other members antagonize or bring false accusation against the player and potentially loose a otherwise good player because he/she may have lost face in front of their team mates.
Step two:
Now your dealing with that guy that just doesn’t get it, you know the one that has a name for himself a reputation that makes other people just roll their eyes when the see him coming and screws up everyone’s otherwise great game.
You have spoken to him on a number of occasions but to know avail he just keeps doing it maybe not all the time but always at the worst possible times.
Not you have to take serous action because it’s affecting your other players and even possibly stopping some of your members from attending games.
Now you must address the problem as a club!
Firstly assure the other members that you are aware of the problem and outline how it is to be dealt with.
Actions that can be taken:
* If during the game the individual “cheats” (make sure you are 100% sure and have a witness or two) END the game then and there! Watch how quickly players run towards the collection points screaming what the F**K happened and the offender skulk away as he/she realizes they are now the course of everyone’s frustration and anger. (yes this ruins everyone’s game day but you shouldn’t have to do it too often before you get a result one way or another)
* Have the leader of the team that has the cheater in it withdraw their teams “win” in front of the club at the end of the game if it is proven that the individual cheated in a way that may have influenced the out come of the game.
* Restrict what personal gear the “cheating” offender can wear on themselves if they continue to use the excuse “I do feel it when I’m hit” i.e. No gillie suit, vests or bulky webbing.
Yes some of these practices do unfairly affect the other players who aren’t cheating but per pressure can work wonders and you only have to do it a few times before you’ll know it it’s going to get results or not.
Step three
Well if your have got this far your have got problems!
In my 9 years of playing I could count on one hand only, players I have seen this bad!
Right you’ve tried the soft approach; you’ve tried the public shaming: you’ve tried the remove the technicalities approach you’ve even penalized the other members in the group so as to force the offender in to changing their ways.
Still not luck?
Well by now you’ve probably come to this conclusion your self
“You club just doesn’t need this type of player and nether does the sport of airsoft”
Its suspension time!
This is where you’ll need a structure within you group/club to deal with this so as there is no chance of the offender using the “personalities” defense.
As for the suspension time you’ll have to jointly decide as a club but keep in mind you’ll need to be consistent.
You may even wish to formally suggest to the offender that suspension is the next course of action if their offending doesn’t stop immediately and they are on probation for a set amount of time.
Step 4
Still no luck or change in behavior
Easy it rimes
STEP FOUR
OUT THE DOOR!
You don’t need this person, they are affecting your group, members, moral and quite possibly the future of your club!
Well this is a guide it may not work for everyone but if the cheaters in your group/club know it exists then they will know they have less chances of getting away with the inappropriate behavior of “cheating”
Should it happen in your club you don’t have to ask what should we do about it?
Even the cheater knows what course of action will be taken against them.
One point of note here “cheating” and the discipline that surrounds it is of a personal nature to each and every club. It is their problem and only they can solve it, sometimes it is easy to see fault in another groups players and you may think it needs addressing sure if it’s affected your game play mention it to their leader or club captain however when you start trying to enforce your own discipline you may find your actions fruitless or detrimental.
Every group or club will always want to be known as fair players and should one of their numbers be seen or conduct themselves as anything less then fair and honest their club knows all to well it reflects on them all.
Allow them to deal with it internally and don’t expect a public outing of the person, trust that they are dealing with it.
Think about it if they have a cheating problem their private games must be rather un-enjoyable and frustrating.
