Pah - I was on a racing yacht going past the typhoon as it was forming - 20 foot swells and Force 7 winds.

no what he means is he's better than me. unless he was trying to compare apples to oranges because if he goes out sailing... he should know in-land, to get anything higher than force 5 is rare. and anything higher than a overhead at any of the HK beaches will be very rare.

wind's going all the wrong places when i was there yesterday... the waves were consistant but it was only poop waves. some freak waves that were apparently close to double overheads. but that was just the odd few. and was before i arrived. and the typhoon washed all sorts of junk onto the beach... mostly wood/buoyant stuff so i had to dodge bits of plywood and planks when i caught the wave.

Seems like you're going to have to wait about a week or so for that typhoon to arrive. You better hope it hits HK dead center ;D I could do with a nice storm..

ETA at my rough guess will be about 6-8days later lol and it's going to miss HK by looooooooads. none the less... with whatever wind force 3+ at E or NE is going to be enough to get some waves good enough to ride a little... fitness training and practise the techniques for the bigger ones when winter comes
